The study focuses on effective communication strategy and its impact on employees attitude to work. It is the means in which activities of the various department relates to enhance industrial growth, productivity and harmony in organizations. The main objective of this study was to critically ascertain the effective communication strategies and its impact on employee attitude to work.  In this study, survey research design was step by step approach adopted for the research while a sample size of (200) workers were selected within the different departments of the organization. Structured  questionnaires were used for data collection which was analyzed using  percentage distribution etc. The finding of this work shows that communication breakdown, as a barrier to effective communication affects organizational performance. In conclusion effective communication is fundamental to the success of any business organization. It can make the wheels of the business word turn efficiently and can equally paralyze the whole field of business activities of an organization if not properly utilized. Based on this finding, the researcher recommends that management should endeavor to listen to subordinates reports and complains, they should not be ignored but regarded as important in an organizational asset. It also recommended that, for effective communication to take place, the barriers to communication must be reduced, communication should flow in all direction in the organization; the management should endeavor to maintain climate to open communication whereby subordinates will feel free to communicate in order to and job satisfaction.

The research work “employee participation in decision making and its impact one workers productivity” Decision making is the role of a leader. Some leaders do not allow subordinates to make decision. The objective of the study is to determine the impact of democratic leadership style on employee productivity, to determine the effect of democratic leadership style on employees morale. Sampling procedure centered mainly on the sampling describing the expected sampling to be used for study. The work concluded that Since experience have shown that democratic leadership style is best since a worker can perform better under this style which would affect the workers, instead a flexible one which would allow them to scope in any situation that they found themselves, which would enable a leader to know when best to use that is good and when best to do it. The work recommended that Managers should device a means of employee people that are ready to work, competent enough and are hard working. Managers should motivate the employee by providing the following: Giving them promotion as and when due, Provision of incentive, fringe benefit and awards, free medical services, Increase in pay and Provision of meal subsidies etc.

The study was carried out to examine the impact of management by objectives in improving employee performance, using United Bank for Africa as a case study. The researchers adopted the cross-sectional field survey method, using the questionnaire and interview schedule in gathering relevant data from the respondents. The convenience approach was used in arriving at a sample size of 120. The study revealed that UBA adopts MBO and that the principle has significant effect on employee”s performance and productivity, as well as profitability and competitive position of the company. The study recommended that MBO should be made an operational principle in UBA and that there should be periodic evaluation of the effectiveness or otherwise of the principle.

This study was designed on effect of inflation on financial report and decision making in business cooperation in Owerri, Imo State. The aim was to determine extent to which inflationary trends affects financial reporting and business decisions of Nigerian Bottling Company Owerri. Inflation, be it creeping, cost push, wage push or profit push is a condition of unrelenting price spiral. The study adopted survey design and copies of questionnaire were administered to elicit data from sample size of (133) which was determined through simple random sampling technique. Chi-square (?2) statistical tool employed and hypotheses tested revealed that there is significant relationship between financial reports, business decision and inflation in Nigerian Bottling Company in Owerri. Therefore, it concludes and recommended that there should be a frantic effort to increase the expansionary policy mechanism as a tool to checkmate lending decision in the economy and for monetary and credit regulatory procedure to be maintained in line with real economic growth and financial market needs.

Effect of discipline on workers performance is aimed at reviewing the outcome of workers performance when they are disciplined. In determining the behavior and reactions, some method of data collection were adopted, these method involved interviews and observations. Secondary method involved the use of publications relevant to the work. It was however discovered that discipline significantly affects workers performance and moulds their character. This is in line with the result from the test of hypothesis using chi -square (X2) hence the following recommendation was given. The organizations should properly check the major complaints of staff on the way its employees are disciplined.

This research work was aimed at finding out the impacts of training in government establishment, EEDC Owerri as the case study. The following findings were made through the research questions prepared. The staff, training is relevant for increase in organization arms, even in the areas often neglected by the management. Staff training leads to improved staff performance (staff who apply the skills acquired on the job and hence entrenching effective and efficiency in use  of the resources). Also it was discovered that some training programmes are implanted and relevant to employees and organizational needs, the quality of training facilities. Trainer and instructors were very poor, and thus pose a problem to organization. 

The purpose of this research work is to identify the impact of technological changes on personnel management in the private sector ( a study of Unilever Plc, Aba). The objective of this study includes the following: to know the leadership of the personnel department, to improve and prevent the down moral workers and efficiency by locating the available resources, to direct workers towards the attainment of specific goals, making recommendations, suggestions and remedies towards improving the working condition of the employees. The sources of data collection used were the primary source and the secondary sources of data collection. In the analysis of data, the researcher used percentages and frequency tables. The further findings shows that training and development in workers always aims at managerial effectiveness, with effective and efficient human resources planning the organization can obtain its goals and objectives and the researcher concluded that base on the findings, manufacturing organizations respond to changes in development because of its advantages to the organization and its employees, hence the researcher recommended and ability to interpret data towards the attainment of the corporate goals and condition of work should be made conducive to accommodate effectiveness of workers.

The project examined organizational reward system and its impact in productivity with particular reference to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. The objective of the study attempts to identify the various organizational reward systems and to determine the extent to which reward scheme have led to high increase in productivity, methods used in this study has relied on collection of data method to achieve the desired aims and objectives of the study. Basically, both primary and secondary sources of data were utilized. The research methodology adopted is the survey. It was observed that there could be high level of performance associated with high level of job satisfaction arising from the good reward system as motive. The researcher thereby recommends that the management should provide adequate accommodation for their staff or workers and that the management should adopt the method in which other organizations are using in carrying out their kind of project.

People entering organization go into these organizations with a lot of expectation in mind. In most cases, they want good salary and other rewards or benefits if they are to be retained in the organization. These rewards includes: opportunity for advancement, job security, efficient medical services, pension scheme etc. when these rewards appear adequate and meet the expectations of staff they are retained but where they feel that the reward system is not satisfactory they try to leave the organization for better prospect elsewhere. The broad objective of this research is to determine the effect of reward system on employee”s productivity. Various literatures were reviewed; primary and secondary method of data collection was employed in sourcing of data. Simple percentage was used in the analysis of questionnaire while Chi-square was used in testing hypothesis. In conclusion reward system has a positive and significant effect on staff productivity in NNPC. It recommended that there should be rewards meant out to employees which will help to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. 

The study aimed at establishing the effect of structure on organizational performance. Organization today are becoming more automated and complex, hence, the need to maintain and improve performance by structuring and restructuring based on changing strategy. The study was conducted using the survey approach. The geographical scope of study is Starline Nigeria Limited Aba. Two sources of data were utilized in the study: the included primary and secondary sources. The primary source was the administration of copies of designed questionnaire to a total of eighty (80) respondents that made up the sample for the study. Out of the eighty copies administered, seventy three (73) were completed and returned. Simple percentage (%) was used in analysis of data. Findings revealed that decentralization enhanced better and more informed decision making in technical and service firms in Nigeria; that task routine affected staff productivity both positively and negatively; and that a significant positive relationship existed between narrow span of control and efficiency in organizations are encouraged to adopt lesser layer in organizational hierarchy. Fewer layers enable a high level of integration of organizational members, quick response and applying too rigid rules. Managers and business owners should ensure that span of control is kept at a level that can be effectively handled by the individual manager. That is, the ability of the manager should be properly considered.

This work centers on the effect of training and development on staff productivity in IBC Orient FM, Owerri, Imo State. This study investigates the state of the training and development on Nigeria public sectors as they aim to build and develop a competent workforce with localization of the workforce. Works on training and development programmes were reviewed as it aligns with Taylor”s content theory of motivation. Descriptive design method was used in this study. Both primary and secondary data were used to gather research information”s chi-square was used to calculate the data presentation and analysis. Well structured questionnaires were used to gather information from staff of IBC Orient FM Owerri, while the responses were presented in simple percentage tables. Results from the hypothesis showed that there is a significant relationship between training, development and staff productivity at IBC orient Fm Owerri. Factors influencing the quantity and quality of training and development activities change, the availability of suitable skills within the existing workforce and the extent to which management see training as motivating factors in work. The study suggest that there is strong need to draw up an integrated Human Relation Development and training framework which would be capable of building a training and development architecture in IBC and fostering flexibility, creativity, team learning and collaboration among their employees at the work place.  

The study examined the role of strategic planning in the achievement of organizational goals. The purpose of strategic planning can be measured in terms of the extent to which it influence s organizational goal and achievement rate. The main objectives of this study is to re-evaluate the strategic planning achievement relationship in organization and determine the extent of its role in organization of which Fidelity Bank Plc Owerri will be used as a case study. Based on the above objectives relevant literature were thoroughly reviewed and a survey method was used with the administration of questionnaire to 124 respondents of which 100 was retrieved comprising of both senior and junior staffs in Fidelity Bank Plc branch in Ikenegbu Layout Owrri Imo State. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage formula, the random sampling techniques was used. The findings on the role of strategic planning leads management to focus its energy and ensure that members are working towards the same  goal in response to the changing environment.

This research focuses on planning and effective organizational management. Using Nigerian Breweries Plc, Aba for the case study.  Information was sought from head and other different department of the company (NBP), which are considered knowledgeable enough to provide information on this study. The population of their study were made up of hundreds of the workers. A questionnaire consisting of 10 items made up of both structures and unstructured item were administered to the company aid, three research hypotheses were formulated and tested. A chip-square technique was employed since variation of opinion and associations were involved. At the, end the following were made, planning is very vital in achieving organizational objective. There is a significant difference between products of well planned organization despites their planning programmes. The key of planning .The success of any organization depends on extent to which they plan. Significant relationship between planning and long time survival of the organization and the ability to overcome environment changes. Based on the above findings, the following recommendation were made, management is therefore advised to effectively have the planning exercise, which is absolutely necessary in organization since it helps to a great extent at increasing the quality of goods produced by the organization, which also enhances the general performance of organizational objectives. Management of business organization should always plan their activities to enable them tap numerous benefits accrued from planning ahead of time. Plans should always be update for its maximum contribution of organization goals.

Poor productivity is a global problem that besets organizations. As a result, the research was set out to ascertain the effects of strategic planning through the effective use of manpower in the strategic planning development and the right choice of technology for strategic planning implementation on organizational productivity. To solve the problem of the study, three hypotheses were formulated. The statistical tools applied for testing the hypotheses are mean, standard deviation and T- test. The major findings are the need for adopting a systematic strategic planning process, choosing the appropriate technologies for strategic planning implementation and engaging professionals / experts in the strategic planning development. The major recommendations employed the organizational management to scan the environment and evolve a systematic strategic plan that would checkmate the effects of the business environment, equip the organization with appropriate technologies for strategic planning implementation and assign professionals / experts in their respective area of specialization during strategic planning development. This would increase productivity and effectiveness in the organization. 

This research work mainly tries to ascertain the impact of remuneration on employees” performance.  People entering into an organization go in with different kinds of expectation from their work places, in most cases, they may want good salaries, job security, medical, transportation and housing allowances and mostly an incentive package called bonus. It is in recognition of this that this research tries to examine the impact of remuneration on employees” performance with reference to Union Bank of Nigeria plc, Owerri. Data was gathered through the use of questionnaires, with a sample size of 80 staff of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc. Data analysis was done by the application of simple percentage and chi-square after the analysis it was observed that there is significant relationship between remuneration and employees” performance. Conclusively, the researcher recommends that management should ensure timely and prompt payment of remuneration to the employees so that they will be motivated to work hard. 

Entrepreneurship Education (EEd) was introduced in Nigeria universities as a compulsory course for more than half a decade now. It was hoped that EEd would help make graduates from Nigerian universities both employable and job creators. This ultimately would bring about reduced unemployment and increased productivity by enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of graduates in the country. However, after almost a decade of implementing EEd, graduates are not creating jobs as expected and unemployment is still rising among graduates. This has brought the question on the effectiveness of the EEd programme in the Nigerian universities.  This study therefore, examined the impact of entrepreneurship education on the enhancement of entrepreneurial skills among undergraduates in south-eastern universities. Four research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey design was deployed in the study. The instrument - Entrepreneurship Education and the Enhancement of Entrepreneurial Skills (EEEESQ) was used to generate data. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test was used to analyze the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that Entrepreneurship Education curriculum to a very great extent, inculcates entrepreneurial skills in undergraduates. Additionally, the findings also showed that there is poor utilization of entrepreneurship education pedagogies in the teaching of entrepreneurship education in South-eastern universities. Following from the findings, some recommendations were made which include among others that: appropriate pedagogies should be used in delivering Entrepreneurship Education; and that EEd contents should derive from industry and market requirements.

This study focuses on the policy making and enactment in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The objectives of this work are to ascertain the quality of policies made and enacted in Njikoka Local Government Area, To find out  the impact of the policies made and enacted, To discover the challenges facing the policy making and enactment and identify the possible way of enhancing the policy making and enactments. This work adopted descriptive survey and the researcher selected a sample of respondents from the population and administered structured questionnaire. The questionnaire took the form of three point formula scales. The researcher used stratified random sampling technique and the sample size was found out using Taro Yamane formula. Through the respondents, the researcher was able to find out that though there are quality policies made in Njikoka Local Government Area  they were unable to enact them due to inadequate resources; that policy making in the local government is facing a problem of interference from other levels of government; and that the staff are not paid promptly to enable them discharge their duties well. The researcher recommends that State Government should not in any form interfere in policy making and enactment in the local government; Efforts should be made to provide adequate funds needed for policy enactment; the Local Government staff should be disciplined and committed to their duties; and the Local Government Authority should device various ways to motivate the staff, increase their salaries and pay them promptly

Employees are a company”s livelihood. How they feel about the work they are doing and the results received from that work directly influence an organization”s performance and, ultimately, its stability. An unstable organization ultimately underperforms. The study had the following objectives: to establish the relationship between motivation and higher productivity among workers, to find out any relationship between motivational factors and work of staff and to determine how incentives influence workers approach to work and their performance. To achieve these goals, a questionnaire was designed based on the objectives. The completed questionnaires were processed and analyzed using the Simple Percentage and Chi-Square. The findings of this study revealed that alongside monetary incentives, another key factor in motivating employees is to involve them in the process aimed at attaining organizational effectiveness because without their co-operation and support a great deal of managerial energy may be wasted. The study concluded that efforts should be aimed at motivating staff of all levels in order to increase productivity for higher returns. The research made extensive use of both primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained by administering a well-structured questionnaire to respondents in the selected bank. Interviews were also conducted from the bank to access the information on incentive package by the bank. GT Bank Nigeria”s reports, the Internet, magazines, trade journals, were collected for the study. This study revealed that the workers motivational processes in GT Bank have undergone tremendous change since the organization was established.

CHAPTER ONE

The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of management development on organization commitment to work in Imo State University, Owerri. The methodology that was used for the study was survey. Primary data was collected from a sample of forty (40) management teams. Self- administered questionnaire was used in the collection of data; data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (such as frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation and Regression). Findings of the study revealed that Management development has no positive effect on organization commitment to work, also the study revealed that management teams of IMSU have average commitment to work and they considered management development to be very effective. Based on the above findings, the study recommends that for IMSU, Owerri to excel as the first choice University in Africa, management must empower all departments to engage in development of staff to build potential and strengthen staff competencies.

The continual survival and effectiveness of companies and organizations to an extent depends on its employees. Their general well-being, sense of duty and their results from jobs affects a company or organization performance which ultimately relates to its stability. An organization that”s not stable will definitely not perform well. The study was guided by the following aims; finding the relationship between motivation and work performance, relationship between motivation and workers attitude to work and how motivational factors influence workers approach to work. In order to attain these aims, a questionnaire was developed based on the objectives. These questionnaires was later processed and analyzed using SPSS and excel. Data generated were discussed using simple percentages, chi-square and graphs. From the data gathered and analyzed, in relation to monetary incentives packages, management needs the co-operation and support of workers towards attaining organizational effectiveness. In sum, at all levels of managerial discipline, workers should be motivated effectively for a rise in productivity which ultimately leads to higher returns. Both primary and secondary data sources were extensively used. The former was obtained using well-structured questionnaires in the selected bank. Interviews were also conducted from the bank to access information on incentive package from the bank internet site, journals and magazines. It was also revealed from the study that the motivational structure of the bank has gone through tremendous changed.

To add, the research work is composed of six chapters. The first chapter presents the introduction of the study by bringing to light the reasons why the study was conducted and the relevance of conducting the research work. Chapter two highlighted the various individual research work that was done relating to the current study. Theories and conceptual frameworks emanated to guide the logical presentation of information in this chapter. The third chapter explains how the research was conducted. How, who, when and what was used in collecting relevant information for the study. Chapter four presents the data analysis and the findings from the study. This chapter is critical and the most vital of the research work. Chapter five concluded the study and made certain recommendations based on the findings of the study and the last chapter suggested future works of the researcher

However the purpose of this work highlights those factors accountable for low productivity among Nigerian workers. The research tends to focus on those means that will be applied to get workers committed to tier work using effective national tool to enhance and increase productivity level of the public organization “power holding company of Nigeria” as the study. Data were collected from both primary and secondary sources, the analysis of the research brought out a population size used to determine the basis for the information gathered and analyzed.

The research topic of this study is an appraisal on the effect of change management in Nigerian Banking Industry, A study of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Bank Road, Imo. The research was a descriptive research, the researcher  made use of primary sources and secondary sources of data. The primary sources of data was obtained through questionnaire and oral interview while secondary sources was sourced through texts books ,journals and magazines. The population of the study was seventy seven (77) employees. The sample size was 77 employees of the bank. The finding  revealed  among others that change management results to quality services. The researcher recommended among others that management should ensure effective communication link between management and workers before any change process is embarked upon to attract co-operation from workers

This research work is to investigate on the role of information communication technology in the development and growth of an organization, this research work has chosen Zenith bank Plc Owerri as a study though the findings of this research work can vividly and validly be applied to all banking sectors at large. In a bid to realize the objectives of this research work, is to determine the extent to which inefficient use of information communication technology leads to organizational failure; to determine the major problem facing Zenith bank which is lack of software upgrading, to find out the causes of frequent failure on fund transfer through e-channel in Zenith bank. Questionnaire as a distillated tool was employed, 75 questionnaires out of 80 were returned and data were presented and analyzed tabular. Chi-square was adopted in testing of hypothesis. Thus, the researcher hypothesized that lack of upgrading of software has a relationship between low growth and development in zenith bank plc. Thus; the researcher concluded that information technology is an important aspect of the organization management, and recommended that the organization should expand upgrade and equip all its satellites training centers for maximum benefit utilization

In recent times, managers and management researchers have long believed that organizational goals are unattainable without the enduring commitment of members of the organisation.  Motivation is a general term applying to the entire class of desires, drives, needs, wish and similar forces. The main objective of the study is to examine ways of using motivation as a tool to enhance productivity of workers in Imo State Polytechnic. The theoretical framework adopted in the study is the Maslow”s Hierarchy of needs.  Data for the study were gathered from primary and secondary sources using the questionnaire as the instrument of data gathering. The table, simple percentages and chi-square were utilized in data presentation, analysis and testing of hypothesis. A total of 286 questionnaires were distributed in the research among academic and non-academic staff of Imo State Polytechnic out of which only 280 were completed and returned. The study concluded that human motivation is of utmost importance to organizations and can only be ignored by management at their own detriment and therefore recommends that there should be regular payment of employee salaries and remunerations at the polytechnic to avoid incessant strike actions and other acts exhibited by employees which is inimical to the attainment of the organizational goal.

The study examined effects of manpower planning and development on the performance of guaranty trust bank Owerri Branch. The research work investigate that manpower planning and development is concerned with ensuring that the right person is available for the right job at the right time and the process of intellectual and emotional achievement through providing the means by which people can grow on their jobs. Many organizations are made up of people who are developed to work towards achieving the goals of the organization. Guaranty trust bank plc was chosen as case study where the company was incorporated as a limited liability company and today it is one of the best bank in Nigeria. The problem that the organization has is ineffective manpower planning and development. The objective of this study is to examine the effects of manpower planning and development in the company and to determine the extent to which manpower planning and development increases the company performance. The researcher used primary and secondary sources of data in the study. The data used for analysis was gathered through the use of well structured questionnaires. A total population of 57 was used and a simple size of 50 was drawn from the entire population using Yaro Yamen formulae the data collected was analyzed in table using simple percentage formulae, and also used Chi Square formulae to test the hypothesis. The finding is that adequate manpower planning and development will yield operational result that will bring about meaningful changes in the output of the company. The researcher recommended that as a result of the great effect manpower planning and development has in the company performance, organizations should continue to provide adequate training programs and encourage its staff to fully participate.

It also paid attention to the foundling of the small-scale business in Nigeria. Whereas failure of the large-scale import department assembly to propel the country into a satisfactory course of industrialization necessitate the demagnification of strategy to embrace the promotion of small-scale enterprises achievement under the new strategy has not been adequate with expectations of the stated objectives which were economic growth and development through the mobilization of available local resources, employment generation and industrial dispersal as well as mitigation of rural urban migration. Out of a population of eighty drawn from the selected bakeries, sixty seven were selected as the sample size using statistical sample tools (Taro Yamani). A questionnaire was designed and distributed to elicit information from the sample population; also data was sourced through primary and secondary sources. These data collected were presented and analyzed by means of tables and percentages. The hypotheses adduced were tested using such tools as chisquare. It was observed that  to achieve economic growth and development to use, such as increasing availability of credit by raising interest rate ceiling and permitting a “spread” that makes it worthwhile for banks to lend to small-scale business or by increasing the number and range of investment etc. challenges of small-scale business will be a thing of the past.

This research work is on “Employees value proposition and its impact on employee attitude to work” (A study of Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo, Owerri Imo State). A considerable number of studies has been carried out by some authorities in the area of employee value proposition as a means of increasing employee attitude to work. In this study however, some relevant works was examined to find out how employee value proposition has effect on employee attitude which is the main objective that calls for this study. Different literatures were reviewed and data gathered with the use of questionnaire and observations. The study made use of primary and secondary data collection, the population comprises of (1000) one thousand junior and senior staff members of the institution and a sample size of 286 was drawn from the population using yaro yemens fomular. The data analysis was committed to simple percentage techniques and chi-square were adopted as a method of analysis and testing of the hypothesis. The findings showed that, there is a direct relationship between employee value proposition and employees attitude to work. Employee value proposition in the organization is directly responsible for positive employee attitude to work because positive reinforcement which is the most effective tool for encouraging desired behavior stimulates people to take action especially when they get something of value for doing it. Summary, the usefulness in sustaining the efficiency and effectiveness of workers to an organizational performance cannot be over emphasize, the researcher recommended among others that, the management of Imo State Polytechnic should always take the issues of employee value proposition into heart as its workers are the wheel wire for organizational and co-operate growth.

In the dynamic of our society, especially in the business world, have brought about the advancement in technology, companies are faced with staff competition that maintaining a competitive edge requires aggressive strategies, one of such strategies is the impact of corporate image management and promotion. The focus of this research work is to determine the strategies that could be employed to build and promote corporate image efficiently and enhance the profitability of an organization through the promotion of defective corporate image management. Business organization in Nigeria have failed to realize the role of a good corporate image policy has in business dealings. This is probably because they do not understand the concept of corporate image. Infact goes beyond attractive protect or reminding quality services, advertising, paying salaries and so on. It pervades every aspect of a business concern from the least workers personality to the dealings within the organization and with the larger society. This research will be of importance to managers in order to enable them realize that corporate image promotion is one of the management responsibilities and its necessary to commend the support of the public and to increase performance of the market.
